Objective To explore the values of Multi-slice CT perfusion imaging to evaluate the histopathologic grades and the correlation between perfusion parameter and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) expression of the cerebral glioma.Materials and Methods CT perfusion imaging was preoperatively performed in 37 patients with brain gliomas,including 11 cases of low grade(gradeⅠ-Ⅱ) glioma,19 cases of middle grade and 7 cases of high grade.The original imaging data was reconstructed in workstation to get the color maps of all parameters.The CBF,CBV, TTP and PS values were calculated and ratio of the maximum CBF in the tumor solid portion was contrasted with normal white matter in order to get relative parameter value,for example,rCBF value.The expression of VEGF was confirmed with immunohistochemical technique.The correlations among VEGF expression, pathologic grade of cerebral gliomas and rCBV,rCBF,PS value were analyzed. Results The values of CBF,CBV,TTP and PS in three grades gliomas were higher than those of the normal cerebral tissue,.The means of CBF,CBV,TTP and PS in the tumor area were respectively 129.10±72.37 ml/(100mg·min), 9.11±4.67ml/1000ml,23.72±7.38s and 12.95±9.95ml/(100ml·min).The rCBF,rCBV, PS values and VEGF expression varied with glioma histopathologic grade in different grade glioma groups.By statistical treatment,the significant differences in rCBF, rCBV,PS and VEGF expression were observed among three groups(P<0.01),and there was not statistical difference of rTTP value(P>0.05).ALD values of VEGF expression in three groups were 0.11±0.04,0.20±0.04,0.26±0.05 respectively.There was statistical difference of ALD value among three groups(p<0.01).A positive correlation was observed between rCBF,rCBV,PS and VEGF expression,with 0.75, 0.77 and 0.79 r value respectively;but rTTP have no correlation with ALD(r=0.23, P>0.05) Conclusion The rCBV,rCBF and PS values of CTPI are of a positive correlation with VEGF expression of cerebral glioma,which can reflect the angiogenesis activity of cerebral gliomas,and evaluate the biological behavior and grades of cerebral gliomas.The present results may play an important in clinical practice,such as operation and biopsy,and forecast recurrence and metastasis et al.
