Comparative Study On Secretagogin, A Novel Neuroendocrine Marker, With The Former Markers

【Objective】:To study the possibility of Secretagogin(SCGN) as clinical pathological markers in the neuroendocrine tumors,we detected the expression of Secretagogin (SCGN) in the neuroendocrine tumours,and compared with previous neuroendocrine tumour markers.【Methods】:181 cases were diagnosed the neuroendocrine tumours,including carcinoid,Small cell lung cancer,Adrenal cortical adenoma,etc.14 kinds in all.all of which were IHC stained with SCGN,CD56,Syn,CgA and NSE antibodies respectively and compare with the results of nonneuroendocrine tumors。Study the morphologic features of each type of breast carcinomas.All data were analyzed by the SPSS 12.0 software for windows.【Results】:①115 cases expressed SCGN positively.The percentages of positive expression were over 80%in the carcinoid carcinomas,small cell pulmonary carcinomas, large cell neuroendocrine carcinomas,carcinomas with neuroendocrine differentiation,pancreatic endocrine tumours,pituitary adenomas and medullary thyroid carcinomas,respectively.②Especially,the percentages of positive expression were 90%in small cell pulmonary carcinomas.The positive rate was markedly higher than the ones of CgA,Syn and NSE.③There are 39 kinds of noneuroendocrine cancers including lung prickle cell carcinoma,adenocarcinoma of lung,gastric adenocarcinoma,infitrating ductal carcinoma of lacteal gland,lobular carcinoma of breast,thyroid follicle adenoma, thyroid follcular carcinoma,rhabdomyosarcoma,osteogenic sarcoma, medulloblastoma,neuroblastoma,etc.6 cases are positive in 198 cases in all and the rates are only 3%.【Conclusion】:①SCGN is a new kind of highly sensitive markers of neuroendocrine tumours,and express highly positive in most of neuroendocrine tumours.②The percentages of positive expression in the small cell pulmonary carcinomas are higher than other kinds of neuroendocrine tumour.③SCGN is a new kind of highly specific markers of neuroendocrine tumours,and can be applied to clinical pathology diagnosis of the neuroendocrine tumours.
