Effect Of Bu Xin Qi Kou Fu Ye On Stable Angina Pectoris And On The Levels Of Lp-PLA2 And IL-10

Objective To investigate the levels of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) in patients with Stable angina pectoris (SAP) and the effect of the traditional Chinese medicine—Bu xin qi kou fu ye.Methods Consecutive 63 patients with Stable angina pectoris (SAP) and 30 normal controls (NC group) were enrolled. Patients with Stable angina pectoris were randomly assigned to the Bu xin qi kou fu ye group (n=32) and the Nitrosorbid group (n=31). Based on the routine treatments, including aspirin,β-blocker and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) or angiotensin II-receptor blocker(ARB), the Bu xin qi kou fu ye group was treated with Bu xin qi kou fu ye meanwhile the Nitrosorbid group was treated with Nitrosorbid for 12 weeks. Clinical symptom, quantity of used nitroglycerin and quality of life were evaluated before and after treatment. ELISA was adopted to test Lp-PLA2 and IL-10 concentration. The level of serum Lp-PLA2 and IL-10 were compared between patients with Stable angina pectoris and normal control group before and after drug intervention.Results (1) The total symptomatic effective rate of angina pectoris in Bu xin qi kou fu ye group was 81.3%,which was higher than 54.8% in the Nitrosorbid group (P =0.024) ; (2) The stop-decrease rate of nitroglycerin was 75.0% in Bu xin qi kou fu ye group, which was higher than 48.4% in Nitrosorbid group (P =0.030) ; (3)The improvement of quality of life in Bu xin qi kou fu ye group was superior to Nitrosorbid group after treatment (P <0.05) ; (4) Before treatment, serum level of Lp-PLA2 and IL-10 in patients with Stable angina pectoris was higher than those in normal control group (P <0.05) ,while there was no significant difference between Bu xin qi kou fu ye group and Nitrosorbid group. After treatment, the level of serum Lp-PLA2 in Bu xin qi kou fu ye group was significantly lower than those in Nitrosorbid group before treatment, whereas the concentrations of IL-10 were higher than those in normal control group before treatmen(P <0.05). The extent of changes in Bu xin qi kou fu ye group was more significant than in Nitrosorbid group (P<0.05).Conclusions 1. Comparing to Nitrosorbid group, Bu xin qi kou fu ye remarkably improved the symptoms and quality of life in patients with Stable angina pectoris, and should be taken as an effective drug for Stable angina pectoris. 2. Patients with stable angina pectoris who have serum Lp-PLA2 and IL-10 increase indicated Lp-PLA2 and IL-10 related to development of stable angina pectoris. 3. High level of Lp-PLA2 and IL-10 were present in patients with stable angina pectoris, and level of IL-10 was elevated while the concentration of Lp-PLA2 decreased after treatment of Bu xin qi kou fu ye, which indicated that Bu xin qi kou fu ye was available to anti-inflammation.
