| ObjectiveWith the chang of medical model,the International Pediatric academy is highly concerned about the relation between the children's sleep quality and health. the sleep research has just begun,the present study is involving the epidemiological survey in our country now. The survey was conducted to find out the prevalence of children 3-12 years old sleep disturbances in Changzhi,and to identify relevant factors for children sleep disorders.MethodsFrom Sep.2008 through Jer.2009,1236 children from 3 to 12 years old were investigated via questionnaire in Changzhi. The response rate is 98.3%.With strict quality control system,their parents were interviewed with questionnaire to look into their sleep habit,as well as sleep relevant factors.ResultsThe average totle sleep time per day among 3 to 12 years old is 10. 95,10. 94,10. 45, 9. 76, 9. 45, 9. 50, 9. 27, 9.11, 9. 38, and9. 29 hours respectively. The totle prevalence of sleep disorders is 34.3%. Among them,frequent sleep snoring 4.3%,mouth breathing 6.2%,sleep apnea 0.4%,molar teeth 7.7%,night talking 3.4%,somnambulate 0.2%,li-mbs spasm 1.6%,restless sleep 5.8%,hyperhidrosis 10.7%,noctumal enuresis 1.1%,night awakenings 1.6%,and screeching or crying during sleep 1.4%.The prevalence of sleep disorders is higher in aged 3-7 years old group than in aged 7 - 12 years old group,the differences is significant (P<0.01).The prevalence of sleep disorders boys was 35.7%, girls was 33.0%,and had no significantly difference ( x~2 =0.755, P=0.385).the relevant factors for children sleep disorders include tonsillitis,mother snoring,needed inappropriate sleep-onset assistance, co-sleeped with their parents,puting TV set in sleep room,The change of nurse,educational attitude,educational level of father.Conclusion The total sleep time reduce gradually along with the growth of children. In Changzhi,the prevalence of sleep disorders is 34.3% in children age 3-12years.The mean of total sleep time of 3-12 years old children were shorter than standard maybe. |
