OBJECTIVE: This study was to compare the incidence of bacterial vaginosis and HPV16,18 among the abnormal epithelial cell of cervix patients and the cervicitis patients in order to analyze the association between bacterial vaginosis and cervical lesion via the detection of BV and HPV16,18.METHODS: Forty-six women with the abnormal epithelial cell of cervix comprised the case group while one hundred women with cervical inflammation served as the control group, all of who were from the Gynecology outpatient clinic of XiangYa hospital from the November of 2008 to the February of 2009. Gram smears were analyzed to verify the presence of BV and HPV was carried out by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).RESULTS:â‘ .The incidence of bacterial vaginosis in case group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05), which was 52.17% in case group while 10% in control group.â‘¡.The positive percentage of HPV 16,18 had statistical significance in two groups(P< 0.05), which was 60.87% in case group while 3% in control group.â‘¢The percentage of women who had both HPV 16,18 infection and bacterial vaginosis had statistical significance between the case group which was 41.30% and the control group which was 0 (P<0.05).â‘£Logistic regression analysis was performed to show that HPV 16,18 infection and bacterial vaginosis can increase the risk of the abnormal epithelial cell of cervix.CONCLUSION:â‘ . Bacterial vaginosis might promote the invasion of CIN and cervical cancer.â‘¡. Bacterial vaginosis might increase the infection of HPV16,18.
