Help Seeking And Health Service Utilization Research Of Patients With Mental Disorder In Dalian City

Objective: To explore the help-seeking of patients with mental illness in Dalian and the utilization of health services resources in Dalian. In order to find the solutions and the interventions which will improve mental patients choose professional institutions for treatment, prompt early diagnosis and early treatment for the patients, make full use of medical resources.Methods: more than 5000 inhabitants(≥18 years) of 11 administrative areas in Dalian city and country accepted the home investigation of CIDI3.0 by the multi-stage stratified random sampling method. of which consistent with DSM-Ⅳdiagnostic criteria, diagnosis of mental illness for all types of medical residents and health service utilization intent of the research and analysis.Results: 4.6% of patients help-seeking from health institutions, which accounted for 2.6% of male clients of female clients accounted for 8.7%; different marital status, use of health services there were no significant differences; the help of a professional staff focused on psychiatrists, general practitioners, mental health workers and religious figures, etc.; the reasons for put off seeking assistance related to medical insurance, personal awareness of symptoms, economic costs, shame disease, access to medical resources on health services satisfaction and so on.Conclusions: Dalian mental health services utilization of resources is not optimistic; proposals to strengthen the universal awareness of mental health to the community mental health agencies to launch the function of advocacy to promote the rational use of resources and avoid unnecessary economic burden.
