| Purpose and meaning: Caffeic acid phenethyl este(rCAPE), as one of the main active ingredients of the natural product propolis, shows the unique performance in physiological and pharmacological aspects, such as anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory, immune regulation, et al. Therefore, the research of CAPE, the active ingredient of propolis, turns to be a hot spark both at home and abroad in recent years. This paper is intended to be a reference for the new drug R&D, which take CAPE as the major effective component.Content: Through the research of a large number of domestic and foreign literatures, give pharmacology and pharmacodynamics of propolis and caffeic acid phenethyl ester in propolis a preliminary exploration. The propolis samples'rank is determined by the determination of propolis blocks'ethyl alcohol extraction content, the impurity and the beeswax content, the iodine value, the oxidized time, the phenol compound content and the flavonoid qualitative response. Propolis samples in this experiment are from the Hebei Pro. , China., which is determined by CAPE primitive consistency.
