I .ObjectivesTo evaluate health-related quality of life for sufferers with chronic back/neck disease in Hangzhou city, comparing with that for the general population. Factors influencing health-related quality of life in sufferers with chronic back/neck disease are explored.II .Methods1,Select subjects: Using stratified random sampling. First, three districts were selected from eight districts of Hangzhou randomly. Second, three community health service centers were selected randomly from each district.2,Survey methods and contents: (1) By spot field investigation, 1800 general population and 293 outpatients with chronic back/neck disease were selected to complete the SF-36 and EQ-5D by self-administration; and then 293 not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease were also randomly selected to complete the SF-36 and EQ-5D by self-administration. (2) Evaluate health-related quality of life of general practice sufferers with chronic back/neck disease. (3) Factors influencing health-related quality of life in sufferers with chronic back/neck disease are explored. 3,Statistical analysis: EpiData3.1 was used for data entry. Chi-Square Test, One-way ANOVA, nonparametric tests, multivariable linear regression, multivariable logistic regression and other methods were used for data analysis with software SPSS 13.0 for Windows.III.Results1,Commonly demography data: The general population data showed, the prevalence rate of chronic back/neck disease is 13.0% in the general population. Comparing with the general population, sufferers with chronic back/neck disease were older, living status was poorer, culture degree was lower, and mutimorbidity rate was higher. The proportion of not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease who suffered one more chronic disease was 59.5%, while that of outpatients was 51.9%, higher than outpatients. The mutimorbidity status of not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease is more severity.2,comparison of suffers health-related quality of life: Scores of SF-36 scale,EQ-5Dindex and EQ-5D VAS for outpatients with chronic back/neck disease were lower than the general population, and outpatients reporting 'any' impairment on a given EQ-5D dimension were higher than the general population. RP, BP, SF, MH subscale and EQ-5D VAS scores for outpatients with chronic back/neck disease were lower than not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease. Outpatients reporting 'any' impairment on pain/discomfort dimension were higher than not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease. RP, BP, VT, SF, MH subscale,EQ-5Dindex and EQ-5D VAS scores for not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease were higher than outpatients with chronic back/neck disease. Except SF, MH subscale, Scores of SF-36 scale,EQ-5Dindex and EQ-5D VAS for not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease were lower than that of the general population. As a whole, quality of life for outpatients was lower than the general population, but was higher than that for not consulting patients in previous month.3,Influence factors of sufferers with chronic back/neck disease: Age, culture degree, family income in a year, experience of illness, heart disease and arthritis/rheumatism had obviously influence on outpatients' scores of SF-36 and EQ-5D scale. Age, culture degree, experience of illness and apoplectic sequela had higher reporting impairment rate.Age, experience of illness, heart disease, apoplectic sequela and number of mutimorbidity had obviously influence on not consulting patients for scores of SF-36 and EQ-5D scale. Age, experience of illness, arthritis/rheumatism, apoplectic sequela and number of mutimorbidity had higher reporting impairment rate. The number of mutimorbidity affected more domains of health-related quality of life; for not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease than for outpatients with the same disease.IV. Conclusions1,Scores of SF-36 scale,EQ-5Dindex and EQ-5D VAS for sufferers with chronic back/neck disease were lower than the general population, with scores for outpatients the lowest.2,Age, culture degree, family income in a year, experience of illness, arthritis/rheumatism had obviously influence on health-related quality of life of outpatients with chronic back/neck disease.3,Age, experience of illness, apoplectic sequela and number of mutimorbidity had obviously influence on health-related quality of life of not consulting patients with chronic back/neck disease. The more number of mutimorbidity, the lower scores of SF-36 and EQ-5D scale. The number of mutimorbidity of not consulting patients with back/neck disease had more influence on scores of SF-36 and EQ-5D scale than that for outpatients with chronic back/neck disease.
