ObjectiveOn the basis of previous studies, we investigated nursing postgraduates using"Williams's Creativity Scale"and"Kolb's Learning Styles Inventory". Then we analyzed characters of their creativity tendency and learning style. We tended to explore the correlation between creativity tendency and the learning style, and make statistical analysis, in order to explore the best learning style so as to promote creativity for graduate students ,it is also provide practical guidance and theoretical basis to the reform of nursing education.MethodsIn order to understand individual learner differences in Learning styles and hobbies in learning Process,Kolb's Learning Styles Inventory was administered to 92 nursing graduates(56 students from Shanxi and 36 students from Beijing).Learning styles and hobbies of all students in learning process were analyzed; Williams's Creativity Scale was administered to the same group, the characters of creativity and differences between districts and between grades were analyzed; the four cycles of learning style and four latitudes of creativity assessed by average scores, the correlation between learning styles and creativity tendency was analyzed.Results1. Of all subjects,42.4% preferred assimilating;21.7% preferred the converging,so the diverging;14.1% preferred the accommodating.2. Participants in this study scored in the upper boundary of the 40-60% percentile for CE,and the middle boundary of the 60-80% percentile for AC; However,the AE score fell in the lower boundary of the 20-40%,and the RO score fell in the lower boundary of the 60-80% .3. There was no significant difference in four cycles of learning styles between Shanxi and Beijing; and there was no significant differences in the cycles of AC, AE, RO among grades, but there were significant differences in CE among grades, the scores of CE gradually increased with grade.4. Of all subjects, the scores of the creativity was between 105 and 226,the average score was 153.48±22.57.5. To carry on the comparison according to the district,the differences in scores of the total creativity,the adventure,the curiosity,the imagination and the challenging were not statistically significant ;To carry on the comparison according to the grades, there was no significant difference in the adventure and the total creativity and there were significant differences in the curiosity, the imagination and the challenging, the postgraduates of grade three were more curious,more imaginative,more challenging than those of grade one.6. There was correlation between Learning style and creativity tendency,there was positive correlation between the CE, the AE and the adventure,the imagination,those who preferred the CE and the AE were rich in imagination and risks.Conclusion1.The learning styles of nursing postgraduates were unbalanced, the cycle of active experimentation was the worst. Graduate students have higher capability of perceiving information than that of processing information, and had better theoretical knowledge, but they were relatively lack of interpersonal communication capability and capability to active experimentation.2. The graduate students in nursing lack creativity, but as they entered higher grade their creativity increased to various degree. It was shown in three aspects: curiosity, imagination and challenging spirit, so students in grade three are most creative.3. According to statistical figures, those who tended to perceive information through concrete experience and who processed information through active experimentation were rich in imagination and risks ,so to enhance the capability of CE and AC can improve the creativity.
