The Study On Chinese Herbal Medicine Used In Bowel Preparation Improving The Quality Of Colonoscopy

ObjectiveThis study was to observe patients' defecation,side effects,tolerance, efficacy for colon cleanness by using bowel preparation 1^st formula and 2^nd formula compare with using senna and caster oil in bowel preparation, besides,to evaluate the efficiency of Chinese herbal medicine in bowel preparation and the effects on improving the quality of colonoscopy,in order to provide some considerations for finally the future research and form a effective,safe and available method with characteristics of TCM.Method1.Literature ResearchAccording to the analysis of research situation and progress on the quality of colonoscopy and bowel preparation at home and abroad,we found the method of bowel preparation with oral drugs has got great progress,but there are still some defects and extension problems existing.From the application experience on diarrhea method of TCM and clinical research on bowel preparation using traditional Chinese medicine,we found Chinese Herbal Medicine reflecting certain advantage in bowel preparation.2.Clinical ResearchThis study abide by the random and comparing method,A total of 136 patients were randomly divided into the experimental group(n=66) and the control group(n=70).According to the examination time,the experimental group was divided into two groups,the 1^st experimental group(n=35) and the 2^nd experimental group(n=31).On the same way,the control group was divided into the 1^st control group(n=37) and the 2^nd control group(n=33).The patients from the four groups had no significant differences on age and disease attributes(daily dung elimination one week before bowel preparation).The patients from the experimental group do bowel preparation with bowel preparation 1^st formula and 2^nd formula,and the control group with senna and caster oil.The first administration time of the fist group and second group was the same time,while the second administration time was three hours apart. We made unified questionnaire to evaluate the quality of colonoscopy.The patients' defecation,side effects,satisfaction,efficacy for colon cleanness were recorded.ResultThe effective rate of bowel preparation was significantly different between the 2^nd experimental group(100%) and the 2^nd control group(75.8%)(P＜0.05),while there was no significant difference between the 1^st experimental group(82.9%) and the 1^st control group(81.0%)(P＞0.05),the total effective rate of bowel preparation was better in the experimental group compared with the control group(P＜0.05).Also there was significant difference between the 1^st experimental group and the 2^nd experimental group in the effective rate of bowel preparation(P＜0.05).The patients' tolerance in the experimental group was superior to that in the control group(P＜0.05).The incidence of side effects was lower in the experimental group compared with the control group,the incidence of abdominal pain was significantly different between the two groups(P＜0.05).There were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in defecation duration and defecation frequency(P＜0.05),the defecation duration of the control group was longer than the experimental group,and the total number of bowel frequency was bigger in the control group compared with the experimental group.The acceptance rate of drug taste was higher in the experimental group compared with the control group(P＜0.05).There were no significant difference between the two groups in enema rate and cecal intubation rate(P＞0.05).Conclusion1.The efficacy for colon cleanness is relative ideal using Chinese herbal medicine for bowel preparation,but the administration time should be controlled strictly.The 2^nd formula is the main formula which taking effect, the 1^st formula functions slowly,but function fully is directly related to the efficacy for colon cleanness. 2.The Chinese herbal medicine bowel preparation has the advantages of high safety and patient' s satisfaction,the main side effects are abdominal pain and nausea.The abdominal pain is mainly presented the slight one.The incidence of abdominal pain is lower in the TCM group compared with the senna and caster oil group.3.The efficacy of purgation is grate using Chinese herbal medicine for bowel preparation.The defecation duration is shorter,and the total number of bowel frequency is less.4.The Chinese herbal medicine bowel preparation is effective,safe,well tolerated,it can improve the quality of colonoscopy.5.The Chinese herbal medicine tastes not good which causes nausea and vomiting,but compared with senna and caster oil,it has certain advantages in patients' acceptance.
