Objective: To discuss the difference between the expression of E-cadherin in tumor cell tissue with vasculogenic mimicry (VM) and those without VM in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). And to discuss the formation feature of malignant tumor VM and its relationships with tumor metastasis and recurring. Method: Collect 40 samples of HCC tissue from operation for immunohistochemistry of Hepatocyte and CD31 to screen for VM positive samples and for immunohistochemistry of E-cadherin to do photodensitometry. Get serial sections of tumor samples with typical construction of VM for immunohistochemistry of E-cadherin. Analyze the photodensity of different decks of VM tube to investigate the succession characteristics of VM expressing E-cadherin. Result::VM was founded in 17.50%(7/40)of HCC. The expression of E-cadherin in HCC in VM positive group and those in VM negative group was significant descent and the difference was significant(P<0.01). And the expression of E-cadherin in HCC around VM and those around blood vessel was significant descent(P<0.05).Conclusion: The descent of the E-cad in HCC expression, make the metastasis of malign tumor cells easier, and lead to the coherence between the tumor cells looser. Cell's dissociation and the distortion easier to happen.
