Objective:To evaluate the imporvement of renal function, blood pressure and pian index after laparoscopic renal cyst decortication(LRCD) for patients with adult polycystic kidney disease(APKD).Methods:From May 2003 to July 2007,32 patients with APKD underwent LRCD in our institution. The kidney function,blood-pressure,drugs administration and pain index were evaluated at one month, one year postoperatively. Results:There were no serious complications related to LRCD in all the patients. Significant improvement of kidney function, decline of blood pressure were observed in all patients at one month postoperatively.Reduction of drugs administrations was found in those patietns who had hypertention related to APKD after operation. The pain index was improved at one month after surgery. However, one year after surgery,no significant difference of the kidney function and blood pressure was found compared with perioperative levels.Although pain index incresed at one year compared with that at one month, improvement was still found in all patients. Conclusions:laparoscopic renal cyst decortication(LRCD) is safe and effective regimen for patients with adult polycystic kidney disease(APKD).Renal function, blood pressure and pain index could be improved in short term.However,long-term effects have to be further studied in the future.
