The University Adaptation Status Of Male Nursing Students

With the progress of social civilization, the requirement of privacy protection and the nursing occupation advantage that male possess result in more and more requirement for male nursing students in every main hospitals in China at present, so the training for male nursing students is imperative under this situation. However, during the training process for male nursing, various problems occurred, which made many male nursing students couldn't be competent for their jobs, or put their heart into this job. In order to educate eligible male nursing students, this paper researched and analyzed the university adaptation status of male nursing students who came from 4 different levels in four universities, which may do favor to present education of nursing.Based on documents review, in this research, 400 students including male nursing students, female nursing students and male medical treatment students were surveyed with questionnaires of undergraduates'learning adaptability questionnaire (ULAQ), interpersonal relationship integrated diagnosis scale and SCL-90. Statistic analysis for the valid questionnaires was made with spss11.5 to identify the university adaptation of male nursing students in university. We got the following conclusions:1. This investigation found that the mental health of male nursing students was worse than that of domestic normal people. The mental health of the students came from countries were worse than those students came from cities. The mental health of singleton was better than that of non-singleton.2. There is different between grades in university adaptation of male nursing students.The mental health questions of freshmen was more than that of other students in the university. Freshmen and students in 2 grade had more speciality interest than those students in 3 grade, students in 2 grade had better knowledge application ability than freshmen. As to isomerism-intercourse distress, the freshmen were worse than other students in 2 grade.3. There is diversity on the aspect of university adaptation among male nursing students with different educational backgrounds. Male nursing students of special course had a higher rate of mild psychologic problems than those of main course, while they had more interest in their speciality.4. The university adaptation of male nursing students was worse than that of female nursing students and male medical treatment students. Comparing with female nursing students, the male nursing students had higher factor score on hostility,somatization, interpersonal relationship, depression, paranoid ideation, psychotism and so on. The male nursing students had worse speciality interes, pressure adjusting, appeal tendency than female nursing students. The investigate result of interpersonal relationship integrated diagnosis scale indicated that male nursing students had more problems than femal nursing students at the conversation and the communication-skill. Comparing with male medical treatment students, the male nursing students had higher score on hostility, and lower score on speciality interest.5.There was a negatively related between the total scores of SCL-90 of male nursing students and learning adaptation, between the total scores of interpersonal relationships and learning adaptation. Studies showed a positive relation between the total scores of SCL-90 and interpersonal relationshipss.It is necessary to strengthen the education of speciality mentality and mental health for male nursing students. At the same time, we also should strengthen the subject construct of nursing subjects.
