Objective:To establish the Chinese gender discrimination functions by the parameters of tibia. Methods:The 360 tibias were chosen from 180 known Chinese skeletons(150 males and 30 females, age ranges from 18 to 76),which come from 14 provinces of China.13 parameters were measured with measurement instruments.Data obtained was analyzed by statistical software SPSS 13.0.Independent-samples t test was made between left and right of tibia of the same gender first, and then between male and female of the right tibia.Data of right tibia of male and female was subjected to Fisher discriminant analysis for constructing the gender discriminant functions. Results:There were 13 discriminating functions by the single measurement of tibia. The gender correct rate was 66.7%~96.7%.The gender correct rate of discriminant functions including 13 measurements is 97.3%for male,93.3%for female, respectively. Conclusions:The radio of gender discriminant functions which is adapted to Chinese gender discrimination was high.
