| Objective To assess the growth of the knee and ankle long bone of adolescents in Yantai area,and provide new data for the new standard of skeletal age of adolescents.Methods Total 1668 healthy adolescents(815 males and 853 females) at 10 to 25 years of age living in Yantai area were randomly selected,Radiograms of knee and ankle were obtained with radiography to observe the fusion of long bone,calculate the fusion age,and analyze the correlation of long bone epiphysis-diaphysis fusion rate and the information of development.Results The sequence of epiphysis-diaphysis fusion in knee and ankle long bone is as follow:the inferior end of fibula,the inferior end of tibia,the inferior end of femur,the superior end of fibula,the superior end of tibia and those in ankle long bone are shorter than in knee and those in female are shorter than in male.The epiphysis-diaphysis fusion rates are significant correlated with weight and the length of low extremities.Conclusion The skeletal development of adolescents in Yantai area has the characteristic of acceleration and we can accumulate new data for the research of anthropology,clinical and forensic medicine. |
