| Objective To investigate the expression and clinical implication ofosteopontin(OPN) and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) in cervicalcarcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical S-P assay was used to detect the positiverate and the values of OPN and MMP-9 in 40 cases of cervical carcinoma,10 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasm(CIN) and 6 cases of normalcervical tissue. Results The positive expression of OPN was higher in cervicalcarcinoma(60.0%) than that in CIN (10.0%) and normal cervical tissue(O),( P<0.01); The positive expression of MMP-9 was higher in cervical carcinoma(55.0%) than that in CIN (0) and normal cervical tissue(O),( P<0.01 ).Both the gene expression were related to the tumor grade, clinical stage and lymph nodes metastasis .The correlation between OPN and MMP-9 expression was highly significant ( P<0.05 ) .Conclusion OPN and MMP-9 play a synergistic role in the genesis, development, invasion and metastasis of cervical carcinoma. Their colocalization may be a useful marker for cervical carcinoma detection. |
