Objective: To approach the effect of nutrients intake level, body mass index(BMI), age, pregnancy time, disease of pregnancy, blood serum nutrients and physical activity status in the third trimester on birth weight of neonates and understand correlation factors that lead to neonates. Methods: Investigations were made on general state, meals, biochemical indicator, body measurement index and physical activity. Analysis was made for 474 pregnants in The Second affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 1st 2007 to August 1st 2007. There were 6 cases of fetal death, 16 cases of artificial abortion among them, so the practical cases number was 452. Nutrients intake level, physical activity state, body mass index, age of delivery, pregnancy time and bitrh rate of neonates were investigated with check of nutrients. The collected datas were arranged and recorded for statistical analysis. Results: There were 46 cases of fetal macrosomia with the incidence of 9.70% during investigation objects. neonates The pregnant women with high total energy and fat intake, high BMI and post-term birth had higher risk of delivery of heavier infants or even fetal macrosomia. The protein and carbohydrate intake, age of delivery of pregnant women wouldn't affect birth weight of neonates. Compared with mothers in normal group, those in fetal macrosomia group intook more meat, fried food and sweet food, showed a significant difference. Mothers with gestational diabetes were conspicuously correlated with the birth of fetal macrosomia(p<0.05), The blood serum VA,VC,VE,Fe,Zn,Ca and so on mothers showed no conspicuous difference in both fetal macrosomia group and normal weight group. Women in the third trimester took sleep as main activity. The physical activity state of mothers in the third trimester had no significant differences in both fetal macrosomia group and normal weight group. Conclusions: There was a high incidence of fetal macrosomia. The factors such as total energy and fat intake, body height, body weight and pregnancy time, gestational diabetes and so on had an important effect on the birth weights of neonates. Besides, pregnant women had not enough physical activity.
