Objiective: To investigate the relationships of expression of the VEGF in human testicle tissue with spermatogenesis. Methods: The pathological change in seminiferous tubules were examined by HE-staining. Employing immunohistochemistry,VEGF and microvessel counts(MVC) were studied on 32cases of non-obstructive azoospermia testicle tissue and 13 cases of the hunan normal testicle tissue. Statistics was used to analyse the data. By comparing range and degree of VEGF positive staining, judging the relation of VEGF express with MVC and that of VEGF with producing zoosperm function. Results : In the human non-obstructive azoospermia testicle tissue, naught or merely small amounts zoosperm, seminiferous epithelium exuciations, arrangement disorder and spermatogenic cell atrophy were discovered in seminiferous tubules; glassy degeneration and fibroid degeneration occurred in part seminiferous tubule walls. The VEGF expression and MVC in normal testicle tissue were both significantly higher than which in non-obstructive azoospermia testicle tissue(P<0.05),VEGF expression revealed a correlation with MVC (r=0.9867) .Conclutions: (1)Lacking expression of VEGF in the human non-obstructive azoospermia testicle tissue may be related to spermatogenic dysfunction;(2)Seminiferous epithelium exuviations, arrangement disorder and dyszoospermia were discovered in seminiferous tubules of the human non-obstructive azoospermia testicle tissue.
