Objective To detect the expressions ofβ-cat and LN in pituitary tumors and explore the relationship between the expressions and the invasiveness of pituitary adenomas. Methods:Collect 55 examples during surgery in Department of Neurosurgery,Second Affiliated Hospital,Lanzhou University.Among them 32 pat ients are male and 23 female. The age from 26 to 73 years old, mean age is 42.0.According to immunoh -istochemical S-P assay there are 23 PRL adenomas and 9 GH adenomas,8 nonfunctional adenomas,12 multi—functional adenomas and 3 ACTH adenomas.According to tumor invasiveness: there are 24 invasive pituitary adenomas and 31 noninvasive adenomas. We embed all specimens with paraffin, cut them into 4um thick slides. The expressions ofβ-cat and LN in 55 surgical specimens of pituitary adenomas were detected by using immunoh -istochemical S-P assay. The correlations between the expressions and invasiveness of the adenomas were analyzed with SPSS11.5 package. To compareβ-cat and LN values between invasive groups and noninvasive ones using t test methods. To analyze the correlation between the expressions ofβ-cat and LN using Pearson correlating methods,p value is less than 0.05.Results Compared with the non-invasive pituitary adenomas, the expressions ofβ-cat and LN decreased in invasive ones(P<0.05).There was a positive correlation betweenβ-cat and LN at protein level. Conclusion The decreased expressions ofβ-cat and LN are significantly correlated with the invasiveness of pituitary adenomas, and they may play an ingenerate role in the invasiveness of this tumor, and may have indicative value to their prognosis. |
