Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women globally and it's one of the main diseases seriously treaten the healthy and life of women. Breast cancer now tends to leave physical damage, and people with these conditions are often expected to live with them rather than recover from them or die because of them. With the transference of medical model from the biomedical model to the bio-psycho-social model, the quality of breast cancer patients has been increasingly and wide spreadly concerned.Objective: To research the psychological health status and quality of life of breast cancer patients and to identify the factors that affected their quality of life.Methods: Symptom Checklist-90 scales (SCL-90) and Short-Form Health Survey 36 scales (SF-36) were used to measure the psychological health status and quality of life of 126 breast cancer patients, factors affecting patients' quality of life were analyzed.Results: (1) SCL-90 scales indicated that the total scores in subscales of positive item number , somatization , obsessive-compulsion , interperson sensitivity , depression, anxiety, and phobic anxiety were higher in patients than healthy control(P<0.01). (2) Scores for each health dimension on the SF-36 scales were significantly lower in patients than healthy control(P<0.01). (3) Age, education degree, family income, tumor stage and disease course affected quality of life of patients(P<0. 01 or 0.05). The SCL-90 total score and factor scores of somatization, anxiety and depression symptoms of patients correlated with their quality of life(P<0. 01 or 0.05).Conclusions: The patients have psychological disorders and poor quality of life. The psychological imbalance of patients as well as the disease and some factors of patients themselves affect their quality of life.
