Background: The HIV pandemic became the most serious of infectious disease challenges to public health in china recent years, The floating population was important factor for HIV epidemic, and hundred millions of migrant workers were almost the whole. the construction sites have become one of important places for jobless rural surplus labor force to seek employment, and the amount of building work were increasing with the city development. Most of them were sexually active middle age 20-45 adults and adolescents, with the characteristic of poor social support, floating continually, weakness of protect and restrict themselves, The floating male workers were special population groups and should be treated as an important target population for current STD/HIV prevention and control, that is the building worker are likely to be the frail population of the spreading of HIV/AIDS. Today, because there are not operative vaccine of the AIDS and treatment, so it is very important to strengthen health education and behavior intervention among high-risk population for STD/HIV prevention and control.Objectives: To understand STD/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome related knowledge, attitude, belief and practice among building workers, to compare the results and effects of different behavioral interventions methods, in order to provide scientific evidence for HIV/AIDS prevention and control among the migrant construction worker.Methods: Community trial was conducted in three construction sites with cluster sampling, based size, class and finished date. Three intervention methods were carried out among them, included comprehensive behavior intervention by Medical, the peer education and posting pictures on the HIV/AIDS, using a standardized questionnaire designed by Center Disease Prevention and Control of Shandong province, investigate knowledge, attitude belief and practice for STD/AIDS among construction workers in 3 building sites before and after intervention, all questionnaires were finished by themselves. Data was collected, input and analysis by EPI-data3.1, SPSS11.5 and SAS 8.12.software, using t-test, Chi-square test and correlation analysis, explore the effect factors of STD/AIDS-related knowledge, attitude, belief and practice among building workers, evaluate the effect of different intervention methods for migrant workers.Results: Most of building workers were young and at the prime of life aged 17 to 45 years (86.35%),93.5%of them were male, 70%of their education degree are low at junior high school;Some of them have non-marital sex (70%) and 5. 76 % of them hanve men who have sex with men (MSM) , the ratio of those who would use condoms was 30%-40%.The knowledge awareness of the workers on the mode of transmission, preventions of STD/HIV were 28.18-78.35%, The knowledge awareness of the workers on the mode of transmission were higher than preventions of STD/HIV, the ratio of the respondents who would adopt a negative attitude towards the infected persons was 28.35%and 31.27%, 70% of them want to help the HIV infector.The sate of right answering about STD/HIV knowledge was raised among mobile building workers by three intervention methods, The knowledge awareness of the building workers on the concepts, transmission modes, prevention of STD/HIV increased significantly by comparing the statistical before and after intervention in comprehensive intervention group and peer education group(P<0.01) . The improved range in posting pictures group was 5% (P >0.05) ,the ratio of the respondents who would adopt a positive attitude towards the infected persons was raised 10.5% (P <0.05), There was no statistical significance between before and after intervention on condom using, non-marital sex and men who have sex with men (P>0.05) .The effect of three intervention methods was different, there was statistical significance between before and after intervention with peer education group and comprehensive behavior intervention group, but no with posting pictures group.Conclusion: The knowledge awareness of the workers on the mode of transmission, preventions of STD/HIV were 27.15-78.35%, the knowledge awareness of the workers on the concepts, the mode of transmission, preventions of STD/AIDS and correct condom use were improved obviously with health education and intervention, comprehensive behavior intervention by medical and the peer education were effective measures in HIV/AIDS prevention and control among building workers, The peer education behavior intervention based on local department of construction was effective method on HIV/AIDS prevention and control, might be extended to the similar population at the construction sites.
