Clinical Observation Of Envenoming By Bungarus Multicinctus In Guangxi In 147 Case

Objective To investigate the general epidemiology,the clinical characteristics and the comprehensive treatment on patients bitten by Bungarus multicintus in Guangxi(especially,respiratory failure patients).Methods Retrospective analysis the clinical data of 147 patients bitten by Bungarus multicintus in our hospital and other hospital in Guangxi from January 2001 to October 2007.Results(1)The median time of visiting,myoparalysis,mechanical ventilation and hospital day were 4.5 h(1/3h～17h),5.5h(1h～16h),71.5h(46h～192h),6.5d(3d～14d),respectively.(2)Therapeutic efficacy:7 cases died,mortality was 4.76%,140 survived successfully with 95.23%.The effective rate of visiting in <6h group higher than those in>6h group with significant difference(p＜0.05).Conclusion(1)The high incidence of Bungarus multicintus bite was in the summer and at night,male more than female,mainly the farmer.(2)The wound was slight,but the lethality rate was high because of myoparalysis and respiratory failure.(3)It suggests that comprehensive treatment early is an effective therapy on patients bitten by Bungarus multicintus,especially combination of mechanical ventilation,antivenin treat on respiratory failure patients.
