Objective To investigate the prevalence of albuminuria and risk factors in the general adult population of Hezhou. Methods 1200 residents(older than 18 years)from 1 street and 3 towns in babu region of Hezhou city were randomly selected using a multistage sampling. All residents were interviewed and tested for morning spot urine of albumin to creatinine ratio(ACR)(abnormal:≥30 mg/g).The associations of albuminuria damage indicators with age, gender, smoking, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hyperuricemia were examined. Results Eligible data of 1069 subjects were enrolled in the study. After the adjustment of age gender component, the prevalence of albuminuria was 7.3%.The recognition of albuminuria was 2.5%.The prevalence of albuminuria was higher in females than that in males(11.4%vs 4.4%,P<0.05). The prevalence of albuminuria was increasing with age(P<0.05).The prevalence of albuminuria was higher in the diabetes patients than that in the non-diabetes participants(38.2%vs 4.2%,P<0.05).The prevalence of albuminuria was higher in the hypertension patients than that in the nonhypertension participants(17.1%vs 5.3%,P<0.05).Urine of albumin to creatinine ratio(ACR)was more sensitive than urine convention in the detection of albuminuria.Gender, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hematuria were independently associated with albuminuria. Conclusion The prevalence of albuminuria is 7.3%in Hezhou of Guangxi. The prevalence of albuminuria was higher in females than that in males. Independent risk factors associated with albuminuria are gender, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hematuria.
