Background: Cataract is the result of multiple factors, the exact etiopathogenisis was not found until now. Senescence Marker Protein-30 is also called regucalcin. It is a new type of calcium binding neutral protein, was found in 1992. It plays a part in signal transduction pathway in cells. Now it was proved that SMP-30 is expressed in the human's hepatic cells and the epithelial cells of kidney proximal tubule. The level of expression is decreasing with age. There is no difference in male and female. It was not reported in the etipathogenisis of caract until now.Objestive: To study the expression of SMP-30 in human lens epithelial cells and explore its possible role and clinical significance in the emergence and development of cataract, then apply the oretical foundation for the pathogenesis of cataract. Method: Four normal liver and two normal kidney samples,57 cases human anterior lens capsule were used for detection. Immunohistochemical staining for SMP-30 was performed with SP method on paraffin sections. The results associated with clinical data were analyzed statistically.Result: The protein expression level in transparence lens epithelial cells was higher than in cataract's(P<0.05).The expression of SMP-30 in human lens epithelial cells had no correlation with sex,age in this trial. Conclusion: The expression of SMP-30 in the lens epithelial cells is lower than in the transparence lens', so SMP-30 may be associated with the emergence of cataract. |
