Syringa velutina Kom is one species of Oleaceae families. There are 28 species in the Syringa genus all around the world, and they distribute mainly in the temperate zone of Asia and the south-east of Europe. As a well known ornamental and horticultural plant, Syringa velutina Kom can clean air and be used as an indicator of the state of sulphur pollution. The taste of leaves of this plant is bitter strongly, and whose nature character is cold. As one of traditional Chinese folk herbs, it has been used to diminish inflammation, to treat the tumefaction, ulcer, putrescence, acute icterohepatitis and bacteroidal diarrhea.Recently, the chemical compositions and pharmacological activities of leaves of Syringa genus have been studied by many scholars, while, the reports on the active constituents of Syringa velutina Kom were less quantum correspondingly. In this thesis, the study on the chemical constituents from 95% EtOH soluble fraction of leaves of Syringa velutina Kom were carried out. Which were deal with silica gel chromatogramphy by using several kinds of solvent systems, recrystallizing and HPLC repeatly. By means of spectroscopic analysis and the comparision of physico-chemical properties with literatures, 12 of them were identified. They were identified as Syringin(1), (+)-syringaresinol di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), (+)-Medioresinol di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(3), Rutin(4), Quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), Kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(6), D-mannitol (7), Oleuropein(8), 10-hydroxy oleuropein(9), Oleoside 11-methylester(10), Sinapyl alcohol 4, 3′-di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(11), Sinapyl aldehyde 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (12). Compounds 3, 5, 6, 11 and 12 were isolated from this genus for the first time. Compounds 2, 4, 7, 9 and 10 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The pharmacological activities of moiety extraction were studied. The result showed that the extraction of Syringa velutina Kom had the effects of bacterium inhibitors.
