Objective:This study reports the clinical data of 215 patients who underwent percutaneous balloon mitrail valvuloplasty(PBMV)in order to study on indications, complications, mid and long-term results of percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty in patients with mitral stenosis. Methods:From January 1993 to december 2006,215 patients were registry, including 44 male(20.47%)and 171 female(79.53%),with age of 18-68(mean age of 40.70±11.62).There were mitral stenosis with atrial fibrillation, with left atrial appendage organized thrombus, with pregnancy, with mitral stenosis Left atrium diameter complicating pulmonary stenosis and atrial septal defect and Lumtembacher's syndrome.5-10 year follows-up(mean 5.1±2.4 year)were in 83 patients. The data including pre-PBMV,post-PBMV 2 day and 5-10 years follow-up clinical and echocardiography results were studied retrospectively by SPSS software. Results:After PBMV,mitral valve area(MVA)increased from 1.02±0.26cm~2 before PBMV to 1.93±0.57cm~2(p<0.01).There were 93.49%patients who had at least one class improvement in cardiac function NYHA just after PBMV.At 5-10 years follow-up in 83 patients, survival rate was 98.8%,81.93%patients were still in classⅠorⅡ,MVA decreased to 1.69±0.27cm~2 gradually, restenosis rate was 32.53%.Atrial fibrillation, cardiac function and Wilkins' score before PBMV were correlated factors with restenosis after PBMV,P<0.05.Conclusion:PBMV can achieve excellent and sustained mid and long-term results, especially sinus rhythm,Wilkins' score≤8,without poor cardiac function may have the best long-term results.
