| Object: The etiology and pathogenesis of Hodgkin Lymphoma are not yet known. In recent year, many studies showed that there was a close relationship between Hodgkin Lymphoma and Epstein-Barr Virus infection. The reported incidence of Epstein-Barr Virus in Hodgkin Lymphoma varied significantly from one area to another and changed in different race. The aim of this study Was to learn histopathological characteristics of the Hodgkin Lymphoma, together with the association of Epstein-Barr Virus infection and Hodgkin Lymphoma in Xinjiang Uygur. Methods: cases of Xinjiang Uygur Hodgkin Lymphom were collected from 1983 to 2006 in Affiliated Tumour Hospital, Xinjiang Medical University,a panel of phenotypic maker (CD15, CD30, CD20, CD45RO) were peformed using formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, to facilitate recognition of Hodgkin and Reed-Stenberg (H/RS), according to WHO 2001 classification. In definitely dignosed Hodgkin Lymphoma cases, EBV- encoded small RNA (EBER) were detected by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization method. Results: 1. The prevalence of Hodgkin Lymphoma increased in recent year . In all 52 cases ,there were 36 male and 16 female, with rate of 2.3 to 1. There were two incidence peaks in children and thirties. 2. All 52 cases were classical Hodgkin Lymphoma type,29 cases (55.8%) were Nodular Sclerosis,13 cases(25.0%) were Mixed Cellularity,8 cases (15.4%) were Lymphocyte Rich,2 cases (3.8%) were Lymphocyte Depletion. The positive rates of EBER were 76.9%(40/52) using immunohistochemistry method , inclouding 23 of 29 Nodular Sclerosis, 10 of 13 Mixed Cellularity,5 of 8 Lymphocyte Rich,2 of 2 Lymphocyte Depletion. The positive rate of EBER in childhood bellow 14 years old was 95%(19/20) . The frequency of EBER was 81.5% (22/27) by in situ hybridization method, Including 10 of 12 Nodular Sclerosis,8 of 8 Mixed Cellularity , 4 Of 6 Lymphocyte Rich, none of Lymphocyte Depletion (0/1). The incidence of EBER in childhood bellow 14 years old was 88.9%(8/9) using in situ hybridization method. Conclusion: The prevalence of Hodgkin Lymphoma have an increased trend in Xinjiang Uygur Hodgkin Lymphoma. There were two incidence peaks in children and thirties . For the subtype Nodular Sclerosis was the commonest subtype, account for 55.8%, then was Mixed Cellularity. Hodgkin Lymphoma in Xinjiang Uygur was correlated with EBV infection, especially in children. The subtype of Hodgkin Lymphoma was not correlated with EBV infection .There was no statistical difference for the detection of Epstein-Barr virus by Immunohistochemistry and In situ hybridization method. |
