Objective To investigate the suitable clinical pain assess ment methods for different age of chinese children.Methods Eighty-eight ASAⅠ~Ⅱchildren undergoing scheduled surgical operation were trained with three pain assessment methods before pain assessment.All the children can identify various pain assessment methods independently,and can express the pain degree in the different time of preoperation and postoperation.All the children were divided firstly into two:the pre-school age group(group A,<7years old,n=61)and the school age group(group B,≥7 years old,n=27);and all the children were divided secondly into four:groupⅠ(laparoscop operation group,n=35);groupⅡ(perineal region operation group,n=27);groupⅢ(orthopedic and nephritic operation group,n=10);groupⅣ(other region operation,n=16).Asses sing the pain grade point using the three pain assessment methods FPS,NRS,VAS in the time of H1, H2,H3.Please all the children select the first and the second pain assessment in the above three assessment methods in the time of H1 according to apprehension and judgement ability.All the children,HR,SBP,DBP and SpO2 were monitored in H1,H2,H3.Results(1)There are seventy-six children electing FPS(86.3%),twelve children electing NRS(13.7%)and zero electing VAS(0%)as the first pain assessment method in all the children,and there are fifty-one children electing NRS(57.9%),ten children electing FPS(ll.4%)and twenty-seven electing VAS(30.7%)as the second pain assessment method in all the children.(2)The selecting of pain assessment method between group A and B.The first pain assessment method in the group A:FPS(93.4%),NRS(6.6%),VAS(0%);The first pain assessment method in the group B:FPS(70.3%),NRS(29.7%), VAS(0%).The second pain assessment method in the group A:FPS(3.3%), NRS(67.2%),VAS(29.5%);The second pain assessment method in the group B:FPS(29.6%),NRS(37.1%),VAS(33.3%).There is statistical different in selecting assessment methods between group A and B(P<0.05).(3)The selecting of pain assessment method between groupⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣ.The first assessment method in the groupⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣ.In the groupⅠ: FPS(100%),NRS(0%),VAS(0%);In the groupⅡ:FPS(81.5%),NRS(18.5%), VAS(0%);In the groupⅢ:FPS(80%),NRS(20%),VAS(0%);In the groupⅣ: FPS(68.8%),NRS(31.2%),VAS(0%).The second assessment method in the groupⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣ.In the groupⅠ:NRS(71.4%),VAS(28.6%), FPS(0%);In the groupⅡ:NRS(51.9%),VAS(33.3%),FPS(14.8%);In the groupⅢ:NRS(30%),VAS(40%),FPS(30%);In the groupⅣ:NRS(56.25%),VAS (25%),FPS(18.75%).There is statistical different in selecting assessment methods betweenⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣ(P<0.05).(4)Related coefficients(r)between pain scores of each pain assessment methods is between 0.90 and 0.98 in the same time(P<0.05).(4)groupⅢsuffering from pain is more severe, comparing to groupⅠ,ⅡandⅣ(P<0.05);Pain scores in the time of H2 is more severe,comparing to pain score of the time H1 and H3.(P<0.05).Conclusions(1)The method FPS is the first pain assessment method,it can be used in the clinical pain assessment.(2)There is statistical different in selecting assessment methods between group A and B(P<0.05).The method of FPS should be the first and the best pain assessment method in the group A.In the group B,FPS is also the first pain assessment method,but children have a ascend trend in selecting NRS with the children grow;(3)Pain score of three pain assessment methods have better relativity in the same time.(4)Pain intensity is statistical different between groupⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣ(P<0.05),and between H2 and H3,so we can predicate that pain intensity is different in the different surgery and different time.
