[Background] The pathogenesis of NP is poorly understood, and Allergy has been postulated to play a role in its pathogenesis. [Objective]To study the changes in gene expression in the human nasal polyps with allergic rhinitis, explore the relationship between nasal polyps and allergy.[Methods] A 14500 gene DNA microarray (Affymetrix) was used to examine gene expression in NP samples with AR and AR samples. The differentially expressed genes were identified and subjected to realtime RT-PCR analysis. [Results] Compared with normal sinus tissue,283 genes were found to be differentially expressed in NP samples. Compared with normal sinus tissue,161 genes were found to be differentially expressed in AR samples. Compared with AR tissues,445 genes were found to be differentially expressed in NP samples. realtime RT-PCR confirmed the differential expression. [Conclusion] Microarray expression profile of NP samples with AR is differential. The differentially expressed genes may involve in mechanisms of NPs.
