| OBJECTIVETo improve the quality of life (QOL) on human is important reflect of social progress and advance. The QOL of children is to multi-dimensionally assess their self-perception of their position in life covering their overall quality of life. Caring and increasing the children's life quality is the mission of all of us with the development of ages. Currently, there are less studies on quality of life of children than of adult. At present, most researches focused on children of big city in China, such as Shanghai, Chongqing, et al. But there are few reports about children of undeveloped area quality of life.Henan province is an undeveloped province in China, the children of 0-14 years old there are 21.14% of all populations. "Rear children" result from the great immigration of labor force. In Henan the "rear children" are about 20% or more than. Our research targets at finding out the quality of life of the children and rear children in two city and country of Henan, studying its influential factors to what extent those factors will affect QOL and to make plans and methods to improve their QOL,providing reference for the related department of undeveloped area.METHODSThe multistage stratified cluster sampling method was used to select the study participant and thus two cities and countries were chosen as the study sites in Henan. Two primary schools were chosen in city site and four schools were chosen in country sites.1113 children in different school and grade are selected using the method of multistage stratified cluster sampling. The questionnaire includes the Children and Adolescents Quality of life Scale, personal circumstances, pattern of family and life circumstances, et al. All those data were analyzed by the software of SPSS 11.0. And the statistical method include descriptive analysis, chi-square test, analysis of variance, multiple linear regression and Path Analysis. The significant level is 0.05.RESULTS1. It was found that there were statistical differences between different areas, grades, genders, parent's education, pattern family, parental care, family relationship, academic achievement in school and health condition on QOL(p<0.05).2. Multiple Stepwise regression analysis revealed that the quality of life in children were influenced positively by their good family relationship, achievement in school, good family economical condition, parental care, understanding and confidence from family; and influenced negatively by poor health condition, self-pressure, grade, living in country and being rear children(β=0.203, 0.202,0.155, -0.172, 0.122, 0.120, -0.089, -0.086, 0.074, -0.057).3. There were statistical differences between rear children and average children. Multiple Stepwise regression analysis and Path analysis indicate that the quality of life in rear children were influenced directly by family relationship, upbringing style, family economical condition, academic achievement in school health condition and age; and influenced indirectly by parental care and confidence from family.CONCLUSIONS1. The QOL of different areas, grades, gender, parent's education, pattern family, parental care, family relationship, academic achievement in school and health condition children are different in Henan.2. Many factors have impact on QOL of the children, such as family relationship, urban or country, health condition, academic achievement in school, family economical condition, parental care, confidence from family, self-pressure, age and being rear children.3. Rear children is lower than average children on QOL, the situation due to absence of parental care, bad family relationship, special upbringing style, lower family economical condition, poor family confidence, bad academic achievement in school and children with chronic illness, et al.4. The vital important to increasing the children's life quality ,the situation of rearchildren is sever enough for professional attentionl. |
