A Clinical Research On The PingTang Capsules To Improve The Quality Of Life In The Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Of YingXuReSheng

Objective:1. To know the effects of the combined treatment of the PingTang capsules and Glipizide Extended Release Tablets and the Glipizide Extended Release Tablets on the QOL in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus of YingXuReSheng.2. To explore the way to evaluate the curative effect in type 2 diabetes mellitus by the quality of life, and provide a reference for the choice of the way to treatment and evaluation of the clinical curative effect among type 2 diabetes.Methods:o select randomly two hundreds patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus treated at the out-patient clinic in both of the First Hospital of Xiamen City and the Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital of Xiamen City between July 2005 and January 2007. The 200 patients are averagely divided into the both groups, PingTang capsules and Glipizide Extended Release Tablets and the Glipizide Extended Release Tablets, to test and evaluate by DMQLS of the patients with type 2 diabetes, to analyze the data with SPSS 11.5. The patients in two groups are tested and evaluated before the treatment and after the treatment of two months, to compare the improving degree of the both treatments on the quality of life in the patients with type 2 diabetes.Results:1. Before treatment there were no significant difference between the two groups on the scores of QOL in every domains (P〉0.05). Two menthes later, there were significant differences for the combined treatment group of the PingTang capsules and Glipizide Extended Release Tablets onthe scores of QOL in diseases, physiology, psychology and satisfaction domains (P〈0.05), and there was no significant difference in society domain (P〉0.05). As for the group of Glipizide Extended Release Tablets, there was significant difference in diseases, physiology and satisfaction domains (P〈0.05), no change in psychology and society domains (P〉0.05).2. The combined treatment group of PingTang capsules and Glipizide Extended Release Tablets was better than the group of Glipizide Extended Release Tablets in the disease, physiology and satisfaction domain (P〈0.05). Conclusion:1.Two therapies are effective on improving the QOL of type 2 diabetes mellitus.but the therapy of combined treatment of PingTang capsules and Glipizide Extended Release Tablets is more effective on improving .the QOL of type. 2 diabets mellitus than Glipizide Extended Release Tablets, especially on the domain of physiology, psychology, satisfaction and disease domains:2.The evaluation of QOL can enbody the advantage of traditional Chinese medicine, and can be used to evaluate the QOL of patients of type 2 diabets mellitus.
