Objective: To evaluate the ovarian function following transcervical resection of endometrium(TCRE).Methods: Thirty women with abnormal uterine bleeding were selected randomly to beundertaken transcervical resection of endometrium(TCRE group), and the other thirty onesunderwent hysterectomy were observed as hysterectomy group. The serum levels of FSH,LH,E2,PRL,P,TT were tested by radio immunoassay at preoperational, 3 month and 6 month postoperation, Menstruation variation and climacteric symptom score as well as BBT were collected atthe same time. The ovary and the follicular development were observed by ultrasonography. Results: In TCRE group, the ovary and the follicular development showed no significant differenceperioperatively, the amendment efficiency of menstruation reached 93,3%, there were nosignificant differences between preoperational and post operation in climacteric symptom score andserum sex hormone levels (P>0.05). In hysterectomy group, comparing with preoperational, FSHlevel increased at 3rd month following operation. The serum levels of FSH and LH went up at 6thmonth after operation, while the levels of E2,P decreased, (P<0.05). There were significantdifferences between TCRE group and hysterectomy group(p<0.05). Conclusions: The resultssuggest that TRCE do not affect ovarian function during the observational period and hysterectomymay impair it.
