Theoretical Background: With catarrh or atrophy mostly limited on gastric mucosa aspathological changes, chronic gastritis is supposed to be caused by repeated invasion ofdifferent kinds of pathological factors, which leads to regeneration of gastric mucosa, andprobably atrophy or even disappearance of gland cell accompanied with precancerousintestinal metaplasia. As a common disease, chronic gastritis has attracted attention frommore and more scholars home and abroad. TCM has accumulated rich experience intreatment of chronic gastritis by using herbs, acupuncture, massage, etc. amid improvedknowledge on pathogenesis and innovation in treatment methodology of the disease over theyears. Ventro-acupuncture treatment is established by Professor Bo Zhiyun on his long termclinical practice. The ventro-acupuncture treatment, acting on the meridian system, which hasthe acupoint "Shenque" as the center, can stimulate the circulation of blood and adjustpertinence equilibrium. Moreover, it can also cure various symptoms of chronic gastritisrelated to incoordination between the liver and stomach. Objective: To observe the clinic therapeutic effect that ventro-acupuncture therapy treats thepatients with chronic gastritis related to incoordination between the liver and stomach.Methodology: Adopting the randomization, comparison, and single-blind methods to divide60 patients who are diagnosed as chronic gastritis related to incoordination between the liverand stomach into two groups, with one group under ventro-acupuncture therapy (treatmentgroup), and the other under traditional acupuncture therapy (comparison group). Andobserving the results of treatment effect during a one-month treatment period. Results: Ventro-acupuncture therapy of bo-shi has a quick effect on treatment of abdominaldistention, stomach-ache, belding and acid regurgitation, within 3.25±2.12 hours, 3.56±1.64hours, and 4.48±2.05 hours, respectively. It can effectively cure symptoms like abdominaldistention, chest tightness, great respiration, stomach-ache, naupathia, belding and acidregurgitation, and difficult defecation, with clinical cure rate at 80.0%, 46.7%, 75.0%, 83.3%,57.9%, 76.7% and 54.5%, respectively, and overall effective rate at 100%, 100%, 100%,100%, 94.8%, 96.7% and 100%, respectively. The clinic recovery rate for TCM syndromesin patients within treatment group is at 76.7%, and the general effective rate at 100%, withfew side effects seen. Conclusion: Clinical Study indicates that ventro-acupuncture therapy has a much bettereffect on chronic gastritis related to incoordination between the liver and stomach thantraditional therapies. As it can swiftly decrease symptoms caused by the disease while hasfew side effects, ventro-acupuncture therapy can be regarded as a typical treatment of TCMon the chronic gastritis related to incoordination between the liver and stomach.
