Objectives To explore the risk factors that cause tuberculosis among floating population in Xining and provide data for establishing regional TB controlling measures.Methods 1:1 matched case-control study method was designed to collect related data , to analyze factors that cause the disease. The Cases were 120 tuberculosis cases among floating population in Xining from 2005 to 2006. An administrated-interviewer questionnaire was used to collect information about participants' demographics, smoking habits, life and mental stresses , social and economic status, knowledge on TB prevention and contact TB case history.Results 1. There were no difference on gender, age and education between cases and controls (P>0.05). 2. Contact history showed the differences between the two groups(x~2=18.586 , P<0.01), contact history of TB cases were risk factors causing tuberculosis among floating population. 3. The scar of inoculating BCG vaccine showed the differences between the two groups(x~2=54.017 , P<0.01), it is a risk factors causing tuberculosis among floating population. 4. Meanwhile life and mental stresses were differences between the two groups (P<0.01). 5. Social and economic status have influenced on causing TB (P<0.05). 6. Receiving knowledge level on TB have influenced on causing TB on certain level (P<0.05). Conclusion Contact tuberculosis patient, life and mental stresses, social and economic status and healthy promotion on TB showed some correlations on tuberculosis among local floating population. Taking comprehensive TB controlling measures may effectively prevent and control the disease.
