ObjectiveTo improve the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) by urodynamic examination.MethodsUrodynamic examination was performed in 92 patients with lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS) and initial diagnosis of BPH. Uroflowmetry, Residual urine, Filling cystometry, Pressure flow study, urethral pressure profilometry were undertaken. Analysis of Pressure-flow curve by Abrams-Griffiths alignment chart(A-G).The patients were followed-up and were performed measurement of international prostate symptom score(IPSS), residual urine and maximum urinary flow-rate(Qmax) after operation.Results71 cases(77.2 % ) in 92 cases showed bladder outlet obstruction(BOO). Those 71 cases with BOO were given transurethral electrovaporization of prostate (TUVP) treatment, 21 cases without BOO were given expectant treatment. In cases with BOO, there were 48 cases(67.6 % ) complicated with unstable bladder, 16 cases(22.5%) with compliance decreased, and 22 cases(31.0%) with detrusor muscle impact. IPSS, Qmax and residual urine were significant improved after operation.ConclusionsThe urodynamic examination plays an important role in the assessment of surgical indication in patients with BPH, and it should be a routine check before TUVP.
