| RCT (root canal therapy) is a useful therapy for pulpitis and periapical periodontitis. It is very important to measure the work length during the therapy. EAL (Electronic apical locator) is one kind of apparatus to help us to measure the work length of the root canal .EAL has been developed for different generations. Now the third generation is widely used in clinical practice. The ratio method works on the principle that two electric currents with different since wave frequencies will have measurable impedances that can be measured and compared as a ratio regardless of the type of electrolyte in canal. The capacitance of a root canal increases significantly at the apical constriction, and the quotient of the impedance reduces rapidly as the apical constriction is reached. Objective: The studies were desired to investigate two factors affecting the accuracy of the EAL in vitro , irrigate fluids and the size of the apical foramen. Then we will discuss the potential factors in clinical practice which might reduce the accuracy of the EAL .Methods : The study was divided into two experiments: one is the factor of irrigate fluids and the other is the factor of the size of apical foramen . The first experiment which adopted self-control trial... |
