Objective To evaluate the effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) treatment on the liver function in patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). To observe the liver function change under the conditions of accompanied with tumor thrombus in the portal vein,the different areas of emoblization ,poor liver function.Materials and Methods The results of a total of 178 TACE in 110 patients were retrospectively analyzed .Before TACE,baseline liver function was evaluated with Child-Pugh scores and other indicators . Depending on different patients, placing the catheter tip in hepatic propria artery or left/right hepatic artery superselectively , performing chemoembolization in the hepatic lobe artery for tumor. To evaluate the liver function in 1 week after TACE. For the patients with tumor thrombus in the portal vein ,the liver function was re-examined at 3 days, 1,2 and 4 weeks after the procedure. To analysis each data with statistical software SPSS 11.0. Results The mean baseline Child-Pugh score was 5.6348 ±1.13313.After the procedure ,the Child-Pugh score was increased in all patients to 6.2022± 1.43547(P<0.001).
