Background:Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a frequent chronic airway inflammation in respiratory system. The rates of morbidity and mutilation are high.In recent thirty years, mortality rate of COPD tended to elevate.Because chronic obstructive inflammation of airway severely influences the ventilation and exchange function of COPD patients, The motor ability of patients is limited .Despnoea and fatigue limit patients to sedentary, because of this, skeletal muscle began to analosis, oxygen uptaking capacity of skeletal muscle descends, and concentration of chondriosome degrades.Function limitation of skeletal muscle causes oxygen needs increase,so vicious cycle emerges, and further to restrict patient's respiratory and motor function. In 2001, After summarized the research results of COPD,the World Health Organization(WHO) and the National Heart/Lung and Blood Institute(NHLBI) established the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease(GOLD),and proposed diagnose and treat guide, the aim is to raise the cognitive level of COPD and expect to help tens of thousands COPD patients. In the guidelines, pulmonary rehabilitation was formally proposed as the first management program to moderate and severe stable COPD patients with non-pharmacologic treatment. The principal goals of pulmonary rehabilitation are to reduce symptoms, improve the quality of life, and increase participation in physical and social activities. In all GOLD guidelines, comprehensive, integral pulmonary rehabilitation programs are based on a multidisciplinary team approach. The team can include physicians, physiotherapists, professional respiratory nursers occupational therapists, dietetic staff, social workers, and smoking-cessation counselors. The contents can include exercise training, education, nutritional advice, and psychosocial and behavioral intervention ,etc.
