| Background and Objective: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a major risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. The pathological change is atherosclerotic lesion. Acute coronary syndrome consist of acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina. It was proved that atherosclerotic plaques were divided into stable and unstable plaques. Acute coronary syndrome is correlated with stability of artery atherosclerotic plaques and thrombosis. Inflammatory reaction might be one of the mechnism. This research is aimed at detecting the expresson of cyclooxygenase–2 (COX-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and explore their relationship by immunohistochemistry in atherosclerosclerotic lesion with acute coronary syndrome. Methods: Samples of coronary arteries were obtained at autopsies of 30 patients, 15 cases of ACS including acute myocardial infarction(AMI) and 15 cases of patients without myocardial infarction(control group). All the Samples were from 2000 to 2005 in DaLian .The patients in this study were aged from 24 to 75,averey 50.6. All speciments were fixed in 10% paraformaldehyde, dehydrated, waxed, embed in paraffin. The expression COX-2 and MMP-9 were examined by immnunohistochemical technique. Spearman and Fridman test were used in statistical analysis. Results: 1.The expression of COX-2 and MMP-9 were observed in coronary arteries atherosclerotic lesion. There was a Positive correlation between COX-2 and MMP-9 expression in atherosclerotic lesion (rs=0.423,P=0.003).2. COX-2 and MMP-9 were found in macrophages, vessel smooth muscle cell, endothelial cell.No significant... |
