The Application Of ISO9000 In Quality Control Of Hospital

With a deepened open and reform policy and the construction of socialist market economic structure, there has been a keen competition in the medical field in economic globalization. Quality management is playing a more and more important part in the survival and development of a hospital. In order to improve the quality of medical service, which is a focus in hospital administration, advanced patterns and methods of quality management to be introduced into hospital management. Some hospitals have already adopted ISO9000 as its quality management system. As an international standard, ISO9000 does not only provide effective quality management uniform for business management for international manufacturers and enterprises, it also offers valuable experiences and instructive methods for quality management in hospitals. Therefore, it is attracting more and more attention in hospital management.Objective: The main purpose of this article is to investigate, from the perspective of hospital management, how quality management in hospitals can be influenced by the adoption of ISO 9000. It also serves as a reference for hospital management to enhance their quality management l system. Methods: A general hospital, which has been accredited of ISO9000 in Dalian, is taken as a sample. It has set up documentation quality management system and two inner evaluations of its quality management system took place in March 2004 and May 2005 respectively.
