| Objective: In the present study , we wished to provide morphological data about the fiber types of the foot muscle for further functional and pathological investigations. Methods: Samples of the muscles of 160 foots were obtained from 4 cadavers (3 males,1 female) at the age 25~30 without any neuromuscular diseases. By myosin ATPase histochemical method, fibers of the foot muscles may be divided in to Typeâ… (slow twitching) and Typeâ…¡(fast twitching). Results: The results were as follows: in the muscles of the dorsum of foot, the mean percentage of typeâ… fibers was 48.6% (47.6% in the exfensor hallucis brevis,49.1% in the exfensor digitorum brevis). The muscles of the sole were divided into three groups medial, lateral and intermediate groups. In medical group the mean percentage of Typeâ… fibers was 55.1%(54.6% in the abductor hallucis, 54.3% in the flexor hallucis brevis and 57.9% in the adductor hallucis muscles), in the lateral group was 51.5% (51.5% in the abductor digiti minimi, 51.4% in the flexor digiti minimi breavis muscles), and in the intermediate group was 50.3%(54.4% in the flexor digitorum brevis, 52.2% in the quadratus plantae, 59.6%,58.6%,59.0% and 57.6% in 1–4th lumbricals,47.7%,47.7% and 46.9% in 1st-3rd plantar interosseous, 44.3%,43.6%,43.4% and 43.5% in the dorsal interosseous respectively), the mean percentage of typeâ… fibers was 51.5% in the muscles of the sole. The results showed that the... |
