The Application Of Secondary Pedicle Division Strategy At Laparoscopic Splenectomy

Objective To discuss the feasibility of secondary pedicle division strategy applied at laparoscopic splenectomy. And the advantage compare with LS performed through Endo-GIA pedicle division.Methods From June 1999 to June 2005, we performed 24 laparoscopic splenectomy continuously. Data was reviewed retrospectively. In the 24 cases, 12 cases were performed LS through secondary pedicle division strategy and 10 cases were through Endo-GIA pedicle division, 2 cases were turn to open.Results There were no significant different between two strategies in patients age, operative time, blood loss, time of drainage and postoperative hospital stay. The operative cost of secondary pedicle division strategy(8815±871 yuan) was much lesser than Endo-GIA pedicle division strategy(12282±1140 yuan)( t=8.088, P<0.01).Conclusions Laparoscopic splenectomy through secondary pedicle division strategy was safe, effective and economical. It was suitable to performed widely in our country.
