Objective: To evaluate if additional simulation training improves the effect of prosthodontic education compared with traditional preclinical education.Methods: The questionnaires concerned the attitude towards simulation training were delivered to students who had received simulation training. Two groups of students were selected to do the tooth preparation of porcelain fused to metal crown, one group practiced there skill in traditional dentistry laboratory, and the other plus additional 10 hours of simulation training. The performance were marked and analysed.Results: The questionnaire revealed that, the majority of students have positive response to simulation, and students with simulation experience performed better in tooth preparation.Conclusion: The simulation training can improve the practice skill of dental students.
