Objective :To investigate the value of ultrasound in monitoring the curative effect of Chinese traditional medicine to HIV/AIDS patients. Methods : the correlation between the ultrasonic diagrams of abdominal organs of the 80 HIV/ AIDS patients addicted to drugs and the data of their liver function, renal function, blood count was evaluated; the ultrasonic data of HIV/AIDS patients before using Chinese traditional medicine and after using Chinese traditional medicine six months and 71 drug abusers without HIV were compared . Results : there was no obvious straight linear correlation between the sizes of the livers, kidneys, spleens of the HIV/ AIDS patients and the data of their liver function, renal function, blood count ( P > 0. 05, or have no actual meaning because of the r < 0.3,); the sizes of the livers and spleens of HIV/AIDS patients before treated were biggest , and reduced obviously after treated , and the sizes of the drug abusers without HIV were smallest, There were significant differences among the three groups (P < 0.05) , and the echoes of livers and pancreas of HIV/AIDS patients before treated were worse than which of HIV/AIDS patients after treated and drug abusers without HIV , the differences had statistics value (P < 0.05); Conclusions : after treated , the hepato-splenomegaly and the abnormal echoes of livers and pancreas had obvious improvement, and the Chinese traditional medicine was valid to cure HIV/AIDS patients, and belly ultrasound may be superior to monitor the curative effect of HIV/AIDS patients.
