Studies On Quality Evaluation Of Cortex Moutan

Cortex Moutan is a common traditional Chinese medicine .It has been used for anti-inflammation, immunity adjustment, antihypertensive, hypoglycemic, anti-thrombus activity and et al. It also has been used in many traditional Chinese medicine compound. Because it is partial to evaluate the quality of traditional Chinese medicine by only one component. In this article, method of chromatogram to control quality and quantity of paeonol and paeoniflorin was studied. We also analyzed all 11 samples by HPLC to establish the fingerprint of Cortex Moutan.Paeonol and paeoniflorin have been isolated from Cortex Moutan. The purity of them is 99.95%, 99.79% respectively. They are good references for the research of determination and fingerprint, because they are stable and active in Cortex Moutan. TLC and HPLC methods were applied for quality and quantity analysis of the two ingredients above. They are rapid, simple, accurate and sensitive. The results show that the average contents of paeonol and paeoniflorin are 1.550% and 0.708%.With acetonitrile and H₂O as mobile phase in gradient mode we established HPLC fingerprint of Cortex Moutan. We got 10 fingerpeaks and every peak's parameters.The quantity analysis of two ingredients and the establishment of fingerprint are significant for the quality evaluation of Cortex Moutan.
