| OBJECTIVE To explore major risk factor and etiological patterns of hepatocellular carcinoma among the Residents along kuisui River so as to provide a scientific basis for effective prevention of PHC.METHODS A 1:2 frequency-matched case-control study was conducted in residents along Kuisui river ,Anhui province. The data-collection period for the study spanned through the whole year of 2004 and comprised five towns along Kuisui river. The study population include 384 diagnosed patients with PHC between December 1,1994 and November 30,2003 ,and 780 controls as a representative sample of residents in the same area, which frequency-matched to the expected distributions of case by gender and age(10-years groups).A constructed questionnaire elicited information on demographic and socio-economic conditions, diet, history of selected diseases, family history of cancer and psychological factors. Each subject was interviewd face-to-face by trained interviewers. The data were processed with software of Epi Info 6.04 and SPSS 10.0.RESULTS Drinking wading pool water frequently was the risk facters of PHC (OR = 3.33, 95%CI: 1.39~8.01), and a significant time-effect response was found, As to the relationship between alcohol drinking and PHC ,the result showed that white-wine drinking was significantly associated with PHC(0R=l. 81, 95%CI: 1. 21~2. 84),and the risk also elevated with increasing consumption of this kind of wine.Drinking tea had a... |
