| AIM: There have been a great amount of literatures on psychotherapy, whereas only a few are really worth reading correspondingly small. The main factor is influencing the sheer bulk of the psychotherapy literature, and accounting for its mind-numbing aridity, the pressure of the academic market. The aim of this study was to analyze and compare the increase of the psychotherapy literatures in China and abroad and the major influencing factors.METHODS: By using subject psychotherapy and all subheadings (psychotherapy, behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, and psychoanalytic therapy and Morita therapy), psychotherapy literatures from 1990 to 2003 were searched in Medline.
