The constitution of qi deficiency is one type of common constitution thatbecause of Qi deficiency to weaken the function of Zangfu-Organs .theconstitution of Qi deficiency were described by traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) since ancient times. It's the first time that the peripheral bloodgene expression profile of the constitution of Qi deficiency was studied bygene chip technique. This technique provides the experiment support for thediscrimination of the constitution of Qi deficiency for the prevention andtreatment of the constitution of Qi deficiency. Two cases of the constitution of Qi deficiency (2 female, aged 26.0±2.0years) and two cases of normal persons (2 female, aged 26.0±2.0 years) wereselected by the standard of the constitution of Qi deficiency. The regularphysical examination, TCM symptoms and syndromes were investigatedaccordingly. Total RNA was extracted from peripheral blood, and it wasamplified and labeled. The quality and quantity of the processed samples werechecked by Affymetrix human genome Test3 array. The gene expression profileswere monitored by Affymetrix human genome U133A set. The data was analyzedusing Affymetrix Microarray Suite VERSION 5.0, Affymetrix Micro DB VERSION2.0, Affymetrix Data Mining Tool VERSION 3.0 and SAS ONE WAY ANOVA. The genesymbols with significant difference were searched in GENE BANK database. The results showed that,Compare with the normal persons, the peripheralblood gene expression levels were different in the constitution of Qideficiency. There were 38 genes expression up-regulated above 2 fold and 2genes expression down-regulated above 2 fold .The peripheral blood genedifferential expression profiles in the constitution of Qi deficiency werefound for the first time. The function of genes expression up-regulated above2 fold is not distinct . genes expression down-regulated above 2 fold mainlyinvolved genes related ATP binding and MHC protein binding.The resultsdemonstrated the essence of the constitution of Qi deficiency from angle ofmolecularbiologyg and administed to the cognition of microcosmicadministrative levels about the constitution of Qi deficiency .
