ObjectiveGenetic polymorphism of catechol - 0 - methyltransferase ( COMT) , involved in the degradation of catecholamine neurotransmitters, has been investigated as a candidate for modifier of susceptibility to development of schizophreni-a. TO investigate the association of Val158 Met polymorphism in the catechol - 0 - methyltransferase fene exon IV with schizophrenia in Chinese Han population.MethodsThe study consisted of 72 Chinese Han inpatients diagnosed as schizophrenic and their matdhed 80 Han controls with no mental disease in their family in the same area. The case - control association study was adopted to analyze the association between the Val158 Met polymorphism in the catechol - O - methyltransferase gene exon IV with 72 CCMD - 3 schizophrenics and 80 normal control. PCR Cycling Profile: 94℃ , 1'; [94℃ , 30" - 60℃ , 30" - 72℃ , 30" ] x 30 cycles ;72℃ , 10'ResultsIn total, there were no significant differences of genotypic and allelic distribution between the schizophrenics and normal controls; Among the schizophrenics, the frequency of genotype and allel in patients with delution of cbservation is significant different with the frequency of genotype and allel in healthy controls...
