The Construction Of A Training Program For Attending Physician By Combination Of Networks Technology

The training of attending physicians, serving as a link between the past and the future lifelong study, is an important component of medical education after graduation in China, and is also strategic measures to raise medical treatments, high rank professionals and make developments of science and technology in clinical medicine. And this is not only the requirements of progressing medicine and hygienic course, but also requirements for every medical personnel of his/her self-competitiveness to keep abreast of with the time. So enforcing the physician training to improve their capabilities of medical treatments, teaching and research should be an important component of strategic work for sustainable development for a discipline or even a hospital. However, at present China the training of attending physicians ismostly in a inattentive condition, and lack of an systemic, standardized and effective program and system so far for the training, which to some extent limits the developments of the physicians. Hereby, our study investigated the construction of a training program for attending physicians supported by the internet, networks.In this study, we reviewed recent achievements and experiences of continuing medical education (CME), the training of attending physicians, and web based learning (WBL) in China and abroad, analyzed disadvantages and shortcomings of conventional medical training and characteristics and advantages of WBL, discussed the possibility of combining physician training and networks technology, analyzed the contents and characteristics of the training from both home and abroad, and probed into the way of training by networks technology. Furthermore, we surveyed the status pro of attending physicians from two comprehensive hospitals affiliated to a university and their learning requirement with the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of it, and establish a training program suitable for attending physicians. By way of WBL, the program included five major aspects as political thought, professional knowledge and capabilities, proficiency of foreign languages, capabilities of teaching and research, and other related knowledge, and fifteen sub-subjects. The medical administrative authorities organized clinical experts to turn the training contents into videos, recoding tapes, documents or multimedia courseware, established a web site for physician training linking to those training contents for physicians' self-studies, and examined them by tests at the end of the year.
